Alleged contraband seized at Paradip port, investigation ongoing
Alleged illicit substances were reportedly confiscated at Paradip port in Odisha, as confirmed by reliable reports on Friday morning.
Sources state that suspicious packets were discovered aboard a ship at Paradip port, prompting an investigation by the local police, CISF, and the Dog Squad.
These eight packets were seized from the vessel named MV DEBI, which was docked at the PICT berth of Paradip Port. All the suspected contraband items confiscated at Paradip port have been handed over to the Excise and Customs Department for further processing.
Reports indicate that the ship was docked at night, and the discovery of these eight packets was made during a Customs Department inspection.
Although the ship’s crew couldn’t identify the origin or intended recipient of these packets, prompting the involvement of Paradip Adams Police Station, CISF, and the Dog Squad.
Upon inspection, the packets were found to contain suspicious items. However, authorities have reassured that there is no need for public concern regarding this discovery.
