‘Ama Kunipila’ scheme started
Bhubaneswar: The Women and Child Development Department of the Government of Odisha today launched the ‘Ama Kunipila’ scheme on the occasion of Children’s Day following the instructions of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
While launching the ‘Ama Kunipila’ scheme, the department said in the press release, ‘It will provide home-based care and stimulation of children under three years of age through concrete interventions on home-based parent-led early stimulation programme. There is a campaign to institutionalize it. Capacity building of male-streaming caregivers for their brain development through low-cost toys made by parents.
“The key components of this program are sensitizing parents and caregivers about the importance of the early years, involvement of fathers and male caregivers through male-streaming, engagement of young children by parents and caregivers Aim to include low-cost, relevant and child-friendly toys. Facilitating love, interaction, touch and play through toys, stories and interactive talk and activity by Anganwadi workers and taking the campaign to the ground through appropriate parent and caregiver-friendly social behavior communication program (SBCC) and Facilitating effective implementation,” it added.
The press release further said, “The ‘Ama Kunipila’ activity is envisioned to promote parent-led joyful child-friendly learning at home by creating an early motivating environment. Various IEC materials including Mo Bikas Patra, Kuni Calendar, Aama Kunipila Flip Book, Sukhada Lalana Palana Handbook and Aama Kunipila Toy Kit have been developed to support and strengthen the programme.
