AMRITSAR: Case registered against policeman for firing at man

Tarn Taran: Policeman Harpreet Singh posted at DSP office Patti opened fire on a resident of Patti on Friday night. However, the victim narrowly escaped. The victim lodged a complaint on police helpline number 100. In the complaint given to the police, Kanwalpreet Singh of Patti said that he was roaming near Maan filling station and saw two people fighting and arguing with each other.

The complainant said he intervened and tried to calm them down. He said one of them, later identified as Harpreet Singh, alleged that he had filmed them. The victim alleged that Harpreet Singh got angry and fired two shots at him from his service weapon.

Kanwalpreet said, the accused policeman took my mobile phone and threw it on the ground. Investigating officer ASI Avtar Singh said that a case has been registered against Harpreet Singh under sections 336, 427 and 506 of the IPC and sections 25, 27,54 and 59 of the Arms Act. He told that the accused policeman is absconding.
