AMRITSAR: Community event organized
Amritsar: The NSS unit of BBK DAV College for Women organized a series of community service programs in a week long NSS camp. These programs aim to promote social responsibility, promote community development and address environmental concerns. Principal Pushpinder Walia said that these programs underline the college’s unwavering commitment towards community service. The unit is engaged in various community service activities in the adopted villages of Meerakot Kalan and Meerakot Khurd. Dr. Sushil Kumar of the Computer Science Department delivered a lecture on cyber crime. Additionally, a green initiative was implemented through plantation at the local Gurudwara and distribution of jute bags to the villagers. NSS Program Officer Surbhi Sethi gave a lecture on the ill effects of using Chinese Manjha in kite flying in the adopted villages Malawali and Tabowali. NSS Program Officer Nidhi Agarwal delivered a lecture on water conservation, “Block Printing on Fabric” workshop was also conducted. Besides this, NSS volunteers donated jute bags to the villagers and notebooks to the underprivileged students by the Kora Kagaz Club of the college. NSS volunteers also visited Guru Ram Das Old Age Home and interacted with senior citizens. Khalsa College alumni qualify NET Jaskirat Singh, a faculty member of Khalsa College and a graduate of the college’s Journalism and Mass Communication graduation 2019-batch, has qualified his UGC NET exam in Journalism and Mass Communication. Principal Mehal Singh congratulated Jaskirat Singh as well as the Head of the Department of PG Journalism and Mass Communication and the faculty, appreciating the diligent efforts made by the department. The Principal said that the college is always supportive in the efforts of the students to help them in their future journey in higher education. The diligent efforts of students and teachers together bring such results. The college has always supported the students and will continue to do so. Meanwhile, Jaskirat thanked the principal, his teachers for the constant support and guidance in his exam preparation.
