Amritsar: LPG cylinder supply disrupted due to truck drivers’ strike

Even though the transporters called off their strike last evening, the supply of LPG cylinders has not returned to normal. Residents who had booked their refills during the last few days complained of not receiving delivery of their cylinders.

LPG cylinders are not being delivered to homes. Employees of LPG agencies cited unavailability of stock due to the truck drivers’ strike. Mall Mandi resident Aarti, who had booked a refill online on December 29, said her request was duly confirmed with a message. Its bill was received on January 1, in which its price was stated to be Rs 944. After waiting for a few days, he called the concerned agency on January 2, but the staff expressed their helplessness as the stock was not available.

A similar complaint was made by a consumer living on Majitha Road. Local resident Rajesh Kumar wondered how the inventory of cylinders could be so small that a strike of less than 24 hours would deplete them. District Food Supply Controller Amanjit Singh Sandhu said that his office has not received any complaint of shortage of LPG cylinders. He said that his entire team is monitoring the resumption of fuel at the filling stations.
