Raipur. When Jasmani Devi, mother of Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai, heard the news of her son being made the Chief Minister, she was happy and said – My son has got the good fortune of serving Chhattisgarh Mahatari, what could be better than this. He said that this is the result of the affection of the people of Chhattisgarh and the blessings of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

On December 10, Sai had left from his home village Bagiya with the blessings of his mother to attend the meeting organized in Raipur to elect the leader of the legislative party. He gives credit for all the successes he has achieved in his long political innings to the blessings of his mother. Sai’s political journey, belonging to a farmer family, was very interesting and full of struggle.

He started his political career in the then undivided Madhya Pradesh as Panch of Bagiya Gram Panchayat in 1989. In 1990, he was elected unopposed as Sarpanch of Bagiya Gram Panchayat. Say became MLA from Tapkara assembly constituency for the first time in 1990. Became MP from Raigarh since 1999 and after this was elected MP for 3 more consecutive times. He did notable work as a member of the 13th Lok Sabha in 1999, 14th Lok Sabha in 2004, 15th Lok Sabha in 2009 and 16th Lok Sabha in 2014 from Raigarh Lok Sabha constituency. Vishnudev Sai held the responsibility of the Ministry of Steel, Mines, Labor and Employment as the Union Minister of State from 27 May 2014 to 2019.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai was born on 21 February 1964 in village Bagiya of Farsabahar development block of Jashpur district of Chhattisgarh. His father is Late Ram Prasad Sai and mother is Jasmani Devi Sai. Vishnudev Sai was married to Mrs. Kaushalya Devi Sai on 27 May 1991. He has one son and two daughters. Vishnudev Sai completed his higher secondary education from Kunkuri in Jashpur district.

He benefited from the family’s political experience. His elder father late Narhari Prasad Sai and late Kedarnath Sai were in politics for a long time. Late Narhari Prasad was elected MLA and later MP from Lailunga and Bagicha. He also worked as the Minister of State for Communications at the Centre. Late Kedarnath Sai was MLA from Tapkara. Vishnudev Sai’s grandfather, late Shri Budhnath Sai, was also an MLA from 1947-1952.
