Andhra Pradesh Police unearths teacher murder case, arrests four
Vizianagaram (IANS). Cracking the mystery of the sensational murder of a teacher in Vizianagaram district, the Andhra Pradesh Police has arrested four persons. On Monday, the police said that the search is on for the fifth accused in the case.
Police said investigation revealed that 58-year-old teacher Yegireddy Krishna Murthy was killed due to political rivalry.
The arrested persons were identified as Mardana Mohan Rao, Reddy Ramu, Mardana Venkata Naidu, and Mardana Ramaswamy, while the search is on for Mardana Ganapathy.
According to the police, the five accused are residents of Udavolu village in Theerlam mandal. The teacher was killed on July 15 near Kothapeta village in Rajam police station limits. The victim was first run over by a van and later beaten to death with an iron rod.
After the death of the teacher, the roads were blocked in protest demanding the arrest of the killers.
Vizianagaram SP Deepika M. said Mardana Venkata Naidu’s family killed Krishna Murthy to dominate the politics of Udavolu village.
The victim had taken the side of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and ensured the defeat of Mardana Venkata Naidu in the 2021 Gram Panchayat elections.
His move to file a petition in the Andhra Pradesh High Court questioning Naidu’s illegal construction resulted in delay in payment of bills which also cost Naidu a loss of two crore rupees.
TDP chief and former Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Sunday attacked the state’s ruling YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) over the murder.
In a social media post, he said that the YSRCP has converted Navya Andhra Pradesh into Hatiyandra Pradesh.
