ANM arrested for selling newborn in Balangir

Balangir: The ANM (health worker) Mamata Bhoi has been arrested on Saturday in the newborn baby selling case in Gurjibhata village under Lathor police station limits in Balangir district. She was suspended by the Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) on Friday in relation to the case.

As per reports, a poor couple had alleged sold their newborn baby to a couple in lieu of money. Police after preliminary investigation had suspected the hand of the ANM in the newborn baby selling. On further investigation, police received clues and the ANM was arrested.

The couple had sold their newborn due to lack of money for the upbringing of the child. The couple already has children and to get money they had sold their newborn in the knowledge of the ANM.
