Annaprasadam resumes at night in Simhachalam

VISAKHAPATNAM: Temple trust board members recently brought to the notice of newly appointed executive officer S Srinivas Murthy the plight of devotees who were unable to get food at the top at night. After which, the EO visited the area and interacted with the devotees to understand the problems they faced during the night. After meeting them, the EO decided to restore the Annaprasadam facility at night.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, ‘Annaprasadam’ facility remained closed during the night at Sri Varaha Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Devasthanams. However, even when the coronavirus phase ended, facilities at the temple did not resume due to various reasons. Those who stay overnight find it difficult to get food uphill at Simhachalam as there was no such facility in the Devasthanam until recently.

Apart from Andhra Pradesh, devotees from Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand and Bihar frequently visit the temple. During summer, Dussehra and Pongal holidays, hundreds of pilgrims will visit the temple for darshan of Lord Narasimha Swamy. They usually reach the temple a day before the darshan program and prefer to spend time climbing for a few days.
