Kathmandu: Barely 24 hours after a powerful earthquake, measuring 6.4 on the Richter scale, shook Nepal, the Himalayan nation was struck by yet another seismic incident, this time registering a magnitude of 3.6. The second earthquake occurred in the early hours of Sunday, compounding the challenges already faced by Nepal in the aftermath of the initial catastrophe.
The earthquake hit at 04:38:20 IST at a depth of 10 kilometers, with its epicenter located 169 kilometers northwest of Kathmandu, according to information provided by the National Centre for Seismology.
The NCS reported, “Earthquake of Magnitude: 3.6, Occurred on 05-11-2023, 04:38:20 IST, Lat: 28.63 & Long: 83.94, Depth: 10 Km, Location: 169 km NW of Kathmandu, Nepal.”
This second quake followed closely on the heels of the major earthquake with a magnitude of 6.4 that struck Nepal on Saturday. The initial quake had already caused significant destruction and claimed over 157 lives.
