Another prisoner dies in rehabilitation center

Guwahati: In another shocking incident, an inmate of a rehabilitation center in the city’s busy Maligaon area was found dead on Tuesday morning
This incident raises questions on the safety of people admitted in these centres. The incident took place at Saanvi Wellness Foundation, a de-addiction counseling and rehabilitation center located in Maligaon, Guwahati. The man was identified as 25-year-old Mitra Taud, originally from Dhemaji district of the state.

The police team took possession of the body and sent it for post-mortem to find out the cause of death. A similar incident had happened a few months ago. Following the death of an inmate, the caretaker of another de-addiction center named Aakar Foundation Facility in the city was arrested by the police team. Thirty-one-year-old Naba Kalita was earlier found dead under mysterious circumstances.
On examining the footage of surveillance cameras, the police identified Raktim as the person who beat the deceased prisoner named Naba Kalita.
