Anurag Thakur becomes first person to register for Delhi Half Marathon
New Delhi (IANS). Union Sports Minister Anurag Singh Thakur on Wednesday registered as the first participant for the Delhi Half Marathon 2023.
ProCam International announced the opening of registration for the World Athletics Gold Label Race to be held on 15 October.
Speaking about the event, Anurag Thakur said, “I am delighted to have registered for the Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon and look forward to seeing thousands of people participating in this event. I would encourage everyone to register for this event and promote the Fit India Movement. Organizing an event for 18 years is equivalent to scoring a century. The journey of the Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon is a testimony to the popularity of the event among people in India and around the world.
Considered to be one of the fastest half marathons in the world, and carrying prize money of US$268,000, the event will be flagged off from the iconic Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. The best athletes from around the world will compete alongside Indian runners in the capital city of Delhi.
