Army espionage: Big action by ATS, caught those working for Pakistani intelligence agency
Lucknow: UP ATS has arrested two youths involved in spying for Pakistani intelligence agency ISI and terror funding. According to a statement issued from the ATS headquarters on Sunday, ATS has arrested Amrit Gill alias Amrit Pal (25), resident of Bhatinda, Punjab and Riyazuddin (36), resident of Faridnagar in Bhojpur police station area of Ghaziabad. The ATS team had arrested Amrit Gill from Bathinda on November 23 and brought him here on transit remand, while Riyazuddin was summoned to the ATS headquarters for questioning. He was arrested there on Sunday.
According to ATS, information was being received that some people are getting money from suspicious sources, which is being used for terrorist activities and espionage. According to the statement, information was received about spying and sending sensitive confidential information by coming in contact with ISI and after its investigation, an FIR was registered in the ATS police station under relevant sections against Riazuddin and Izharul Haq and others.
The statement said that during the collection of evidence, when the ATS analyzed the bank accounts of Riyazuddin, it was found that about Rs 70 lakh was received between March 2022 and April 2022 and it was also transferred to different accounts. It has been told that in this connection, money was sent from the bank to the auto driver Amrit Gill, who provided information to the ISI. It has been alleged in the statement that Amrit Gill had shared information about army tanks etc.
It said that Riyazuddin and Izharul met in Rajasthan while doing welding work and since then both were in touch with each other and were working for the Pakistani intelligence agency. The statement said that interrogation and preliminary evidence collection revealed that Amrit Gill was in contact with the agents of Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI and used to send sensitive and confidential information related to the Indian Army and in return for this work, Amrit Gill was given bribes to Riyazuddin and Money was delivered with the help of Izharul.
According to the statement, Izharul is currently lodged in Bettiah jail of Bihar and will be brought to Lucknow on remand. An ATS official said that after interrogating the accused, other suspects related to them will also be arrested and the root of the case will be reached.
