Army will be strengthened in areas adjacent to China occupied Tibet border
Keylong. Strategically important NH 505 Samdo-Kaja-Gramphu road will be ready as double lane by the year 2025. About Rs 1400 crore will be spent on the construction of this road. With the construction of this strategic road, the Indian Army will get further strength in the areas bordering China-occupied Tibet, while with the construction of Samdo-Kaja-Gramphu double lane, tourism in Spiti Valley will also get a boost. Due to the double lane road, the Indian Army will get the option of short route via Gramphu-Kunjam-Kaja instead of via Rampur-Kinnaur to reach Samdo border
. Through this route it will be easy to reach Samdo via Kunjam Pass. With the construction of the road, the people of Spiti as well as tourists will get safe passage via Kaza-Losar-Gramphu.
While it takes ten hours to reach Kaza from Manali, once the double lane is built, we will be able to reach Kaza from Manali within three hours. BRO 108 RCC has started the work of widening the road between Kunjam and Rangrik along with soling-bearing on a war footing.
Lahaul Spiti MLA Ravi Thakur said that after getting approval for the construction of the road from the Central Government, 108 RCC of the Border Roads Organization has started the work on war footing. To make it double lane, construction work has been started after completing all the formalities. Ravi Thakur said that the construction of this strategic road will strengthen the Indian Army on the border. An amount of Rs 1400 crore is being spent on the construction of this road. The double lane road is being constructed in three phases. Two phases of tender have been done. He said that a target has been set to double lane the road by the year 2025.
