Artificial valve installed in the heart of an innocent child, doctors of Mekahara gave new life

Raipur: Doctors have given a new life to a 13-year-old child at Ambedkar Hospital in the capital. The heart chest and vascular surgery department of ACI, affiliated to Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru Memorial Medical College and located at Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Memorial Hospital, saved the life of a 13-year-old child by performing a heart operation. In this government institute that treats heart diseases, under the leadership of Heart Chest and Vascular Surgeon Dr. Krishnakant Sahu, the artificial valve in the heart of the innocent child was successfully implanted.

Dr. Krishnakant Sahu said, when this child came to CTVS OPD, he was in a state of heart failure. Was not able to breathe properly and the body was swollen. After examination, it was found that two valves of the child were damaged, due to which his heart was not able to pump blood properly in the body and the size of the heart had become very large, which in medical language is called cardiomegaly with heart failure. It is said. Dr. Sahu told the family that it was necessary to operate the child. The operation is very risky because the child’s heart has become weak and has increased in size. Antifailure treatment will be given by keeping him on medicines for a few days.

This child had a disease called Rheumatic heart disease/RHD. This disease occurs due to ignoring cold and cough in childhood. Streptococcus bacteria causes infection in the throat, causing cold and cough and if timely treatment is not taken, the immune system in our body starts producing antibodies against this bacteria. In most of the cases, this antibody kills this bacteria, but in some cases, this antibody starts damaging the valve tissue inside our heart, due to which the heart valve gets damaged and shrinks or leakage starts in the valve. Is. Children also die due to this. We also call it misguided missile.

Dr. Krishnakant said, antibodies are made in our body to kill bacteria but instead of killing the bacteria, they damage the tissue of our heart. This is a very slow disease. Due to infection at the age of 5 to 10 years, heart disease is detected at the age of 22 to 40 years. This disease is mostly found in underdeveloped or developing countries, because here not much attention is paid to hygiene. Similarly, in our country it is highest in North and Central India and lowest in South India. Dr. Krishnakant Sahu tells that when he was in the Heart Center of Kerala, only 1 or 2 such cases out of 100 were found. This case is important because this disease does not usually occur at this age.
