Arunachal: ‘She Rides’, ‘Smart Didi’ training programmes organised

SAGALEE: The ArSRLM’s Block Mission Management Unit (BMMU) here in Papum Pare district, under the initiative of Block Mission Manager Tar Tarin, conducted two women empowerment initiatives in the Sagalee block – ‘She Rides’ and ‘Smart Didi’ – aimed at strengthening the confidence, skills, and self-reliance of rural women in the block.
The programmes were specially designed for SHG members, master book keepers (MBK), LH cadres, CRP-EPs, e-book keepers, and other women associated with SHGs and federation institutions working at the grassroots level.
The She Rides initiative was a 30-day two-wheeler driving training programme conducted in two batches, where 15 SHGs women learners were enrolled and five of them successfully passed the driving test and were trained in safe and confident riding of two-wheelers. The programme aimed to enhance mobility, independence, and confidence among rural women, so that they can perform their community responsibilities more effectively and independently.
Alongside this, the Smart Didi initiative provided a seven-day basic computer training programme for 10 selected women. The trainees were equipped with fundamental computer knowledge and digital skills to improve their efficiency in office work, documentation, online reporting, and digital communication. Certificates were distributed to all successful trainees upon completion of the course.
Both training programmes were conducted completely free of cost to encourage maximum participation of rural women.
Speaking during the certificate distribution function, Tarin stated that women empowerment begins with skill development and confidence building. He informed that more batches of driving and computer training programmes will be organised in the coming days, so that more rural women can benefit from such opportunities.
The initiatives also sought to inspire youths, social workers, and philanthropists to contribute towards society in whatever capacity they can, and to support meaningful community-driven development efforts.
The completion of these programmes marks another important step towards women-led rural transformation and capacity building in Sagalee block, the BMMU stated in a release.
