As soon as the counting of votes started, Congress workers burst crackers and distributed sweets.
New Delhi: As counting of votes continues for the assembly elections in Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Telangana, Congress supporters were seen bursting crackers at the AICC headquarters in New Delhi. Counting of votes is going on for all four states amid tight security. Laddus were brought out and dance and music festivals were organised, anticipating the party’s victory in Chhattisgarh and Telangana in exit polls released on Thursday.
Meanwhile, All India Congress observer in Telangana Manikrao Thackeray said the grand old party will win more than 70 seats in the southern state and exit polls also say the same. He credited Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra for the change in the party’s favor in Telangana.
Manikrao told ANI, “Our party chief Priyanka Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge explained to the people about our policies. Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra had a great impact. KCR behaved like a king-maharaja in Telangana. Congress had given statehood to Telangana and everyone had wished for it.” That it would become a good state, however, it did not happen.”
“Congress will win more than 70 seats and exit polls are also saying the same,” he said.
In Chhattisgarh, exit polls have given a clear lead to the Congress, which shows that the ruling party is set to return to power in the state and the BJP is also expected to put up a good contest, unlike the 2018 elections.
In Telangana, exit polls have predicted that Congress is set to form government in Telangana and the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) will fall short of the majority mark after 10 years of rule in India’s youngest state.
The results of the assembly elections in four important states Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Telangana will reflect the possible political changes that will be seen in the Lok Sabha elections in 2024.
Voting took place in five states located in the northern, eastern and southern parts of the country, a few months before the next Lok Sabha elections.
