Assam Nagaon APDCL employee caught taking bribe
Assam: The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption on Monday announced that a Nagaon APDCL employee was caught red-handed while accepting bribe under false pretenses, in order to approve the complainant’s application. According to the anti-corruption body, the public servant was appointed in the capacity of switch board operation at the Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) Sub-Division 2 office in Nagaon.
According to the complainant, the accused wanted a bribe to process an application for a commercial meter, who had approached the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption about it. Based on the allegations, the anti-corruption watchdog prepared a plan to catch the accused Nanda Hazarika red-handed. As a result, he was found taking the demanded bribe near his Nagaon home.
“Today @DIR_VAC_ASSAM caught Nanda Hazarika, Switch Board Operator-1, O/o APDCL, Sub Division-2, Nagaon red-handed while accepting bribe near his residence in Nagaon for processing application for commercial meter. The demand was accepted,” the directorate said. Vigilance and Anti Corruption wrote on X.
Authorities announced that further legal action has been taken against the captured criminal.
