Assam: One more arrested for assault on APDCL officials in Dhubri, total number 7

Dhubri. With strict instructions issued by Assam Director General of Police GP Singh to nab the culprits, the Dhubri police have so far managed to nab seven key accused involved in the attack on APDCL employees in Gauripur. On Monday morning, the police managed to nab one more accused named Abdul Ghani from Lalkura area adjacent to Gauripur. A team of police personnel from Balajan Police Station led by Station House Officer Purushottam Singh launched the operation and picked up the accused Abdul Ghani from the designated area. The backdrop of the police action is the brutal attack on the Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) of Gauripur Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) office in Dhubri and some of his officials by suspected electricity (electricity) thieves last Friday. Badly injured APDCL officer Monjurul Haque along with his team had launched an operation against persons allegedly involved in power theft at Balajan under Gauripur police station. The other APDCL employees who were reportedly injured in the incident were Mohidul Haque and Rafiqul Haque. In the wake of the incident, Assam Director General of Police (DGP) GP Singh later informed that three people have been arrested so far in connection with the case. Instructing the Dhubri police to take legal action against the culprits, he also said on Twitter, “Not a single culprit who attacked a government official on duty will be spared.” On Saturday night, the Dhubri police, inspired by the DGP’s words, managed to nab one more accused in the APDCL employees’ physical assault case. The campaign to arrest the criminal was carried out under the leadership of Gauripur police station in-charge Debjit Sarma. The accused arrested on Saturday was identified as Ashraf Ali. Police said Ali was arrested from Dharamshala area. As of Saturday, the Assam Police had arrested six people and the search was on for others.
