ATM fraud gang caught, had come from Haryana to Chhattisgarh
Korba: Korba Police has arrested two accused who committed fraud by changing ATM cards. According to the police, Ashish Kant Pal came to the police post CSEB police station Civil Line Rampur district Korba (Chhattisgarh) and filed a report that the applicant is a retired employee of Balco plant. There is an account in the name of the applicant in ICICI Bank TP Nagar Korba. Platinum Debit Card has been allotted in the said account. In need of money for his personal work, he went to SBI ATM located at Budhwari Bazar Korba on 11.09.2023 at around 10:00 am to withdraw the money. As soon as I inserted my ATM card in the machine to withdraw money in the ATM, after that some error occurred in the ATM machine and it was not taking the command given by me, at the same time a boy came into the ATM room, who was light sky. He was wearing a white colored T-shirt. Adidas was written on the T-shirt. He told the applicant that there must be some error in his card. I will insert my card and check. Saying this, he took out the applicant’s ATM card from the machine and inserted his card and checked but there was an error in it too. He started telling and then the boy returned the applicant’s ATM card, gave him a card and went away. After some time, a message of withdrawal of Rs 100000/- came on the applicant’s mobile, then he immediately called the bank management and informed them to block his card. Meanwhile, Rs 100000/- was withdrawn from the account again. Then the applicant realized that on the pretext of helping him, the boy he met at Budhwari ATM fraudulently changed the ATM card and gave him his own card and had committed fraud by withdrawing Rs. 200000/- from the applicant’s ATM card. On the report of the applicant, crime number 412/2023 section 420.120 (B) of IPC was registered and taken into consideration.
Considering the seriousness of the matter, immediate information about the incident was given to Superintendent of Police Uday Kiran, Additional Superintendent of Police Abhishek Verma, City Superintendent of Police Robinson Gudiya and Police Station Incharge Civil Line Rampur along with incharge Cyber Cell. On the instructions of senior officers, Cyber Cell team outpost in-charge CSEB sub-inspector Naveen Patel along with his subordinate staff constable Devnarayan Kurre, Gopiram Divya Heram Chauhan, scanned the CCTV footage of the incident spot and immediately identified the suspected accused and the team arrested Korba. Blockade was done in the entire police station/post area of the district and photographs of the suspects were circulated departmentally. During checking, the accused were again caught cheating by Inspector Ashwani Rathore, Sauni Rafiq Khan, Constable Mahendra Chandra, Ramesh Kashyap in Police Station Katghora area. In an attempt to do so, one accused Vikram alias Sandeep Jat was caught near the Punjab National Bank ATM, during the investigation of his other associates, the second accused Shahid Khan was caught by a traffic police checking party in village Baridkhar Gursia police station Bango area while escaping from the bus. SHO Sudama Patle posted in number 02, PR 359 Sahebram Khatkar, constable Alok Pandey, has been caught by the team of Santosh Ratre. On separate interrogation from Jondih Police Station Dujana District Azhar (Haryana) Pin-124103, it has been revealed that in addition to this crime, the said criminals have committed crimes worth Rs. 70000/- in Maharani Bagh Police Station area, New Delhi under Arms Act in Police Station Govindpuri area, New Delhi. Under Police Station Rewari Delhi NCR. 85000/- in Police Station Old Industrial Area Panipath Delhi N. C.R. 134000/- in Police Station Bagru District Jaipur Rajasthan 80000/- and two cases of 30000/- and 65000/- in Niwari District Alwar Rajasthan, 3-4 times in Police Station Mujesar District Faridabad (Haryana) and Police Station 28 Sector District Faridabad. (Haryana) has admitted to committing the crime of ATM fraud of Rs 02 lakh once in Police Station Samalkha District Panipath area. Now on 10.09.2023, he has also admitted to cheating the applicant by withdrawing Rs. 40000/- in Ambikapur and Rs. 02 lakh in Korba Budhwari market by changing the ATM card. A total of 47 pieces of old ATM cards which were brought from the accused to commit the incident and Rs. 02 lakh were defrauded from the applicant, have been seized by the police as per the seizure sheet and legal action has been taken against the accused in the Honorable Court today on 12.09.2023. Will be presented on judicial remand. In this important operation, Cyber Cell Korba, Outpost CSEB Police Station Civil Line Rampur, Police Station Katghora and Traffic Police have played a commendable role in the joint police team.
