Australia to boost ties with India on energy research
Chennai: In a sign of boosting its collaboration with India in energy research, Australia has sent the largest international delegation to the Energy Summit IIT-Madras 2023.
In her intervention at the event, Consul General of Australia, Sarah Kirlew, said: “It is essential for a strong institutional and academic commitment to develop the solutions needed to reduce global emissions. The energy summit is timely as countries will meet at the UN Conference of the Parties on Climate Change in Dubai in 2023.
Australian experts will discuss a variety of topics related to the energy transition related to the use of renewable energy and green hydrogen, climate and sustainability policy, carbon capture, net zero, alternative fuels and technology.
The University of Sydney, Deakin University and Swinburne University of Technology participate in Cumbre’s various panels and working groups. Australia also announced that it would be the seat for the 2024 edition of La Cumbre.
The summit will be organized by Deakin University and the Australia-India Center for Energy, a virtual hub that promotes cooperation in the energy sector. AICE will launch the IIT-M Energy Summit in 2022 and bring together multiple Indian and Australian institutions led by IIT Madras from the Indian side and Deakin University from the Australian side to explore research collaboration across all energy sectors. ,
