Badshah: ‘No one at home cares who I am’
Mumbai (IANS). Indian hip-hop icon and rapper Badshah says he is a very “simple” person in real life and people at home keep reality checking because no one cares who he is.
Badshah told IANS, “Actually I am quite the opposite and quite a simple person. I am not concerned about materialism or possessions. In fact everyone at home keeps on doing reality checks. Nobody cares whether Who I am. It keeps me grounded!”
On how he understands the role he as a multihyphenate has played in hip-hop’s development, Badshah said, “Hip hop is a culture that extends far beyond the art form. You need a foundation We need to build something that allows the community to grow.”
He said, “When you look at icons like Jay-Z, Diddy, Beyoncé, Rihanna and 50 Cent, those guys are geniuses. They made something out of nothing.”
“I’ve had a flair for business since I was a kid. I used to sell comic books in school and I was selling land in college.”
Badshah also has his own ideals in the hip-hop genre. He said, “Jay Z, Eminem, Drake, Kayne West.”
Badshah, who is known for songs like ‘Jugnu’, ‘Abhi Toh Party Shuru Hui Hai’, ‘DJ Wale Babu’ and many more, has released his new single ‘Gone Girl’.
With the song, the rapper recaptures the essence of his quintessential old school commercial soundscape.
‘Gone Girl’ is packed with a lively tune, peppy beats, pop-forward vocals and an infectious energy.
The music video of the song has been directed by Manish Shanty, and features rising South Indian actress Sakshi Vaidya, whose charming on-screen presence sizzles on screen.
