Baghel’s colleague and farmer leader against Raman Singh in Rajnandgaon
Rajnandgaon. Rajnandgaon is one of the most talked about seats of the assembly elections being held in Chhattisgarh. It has become the stronghold of former Chief Minister and BJP leader Dr. Raman Singh. Congress has fielded Girish Dewangan against Raman Singh, who is trusted by Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel. It is being said that Chief Minister Baghel is standing behind Dewangan here.
Rajnandgaon is that assembly seat which has become an impregnable fort for BJP for three elections. This is because the last three elections were won by Raman Singh and this seat gave the Chief Minister. Raman Singh is the big face of BJP and Congress wants to destroy him at any cost.
That is why the party has fielded Girish Dewangan, a farmer leader and confidant of Chief Minister Baghel. In the four elections held after the formation of the state, Congress has won once and BJP has won thrice.
In the politics of the state, Bhupesh Baghel and Raman Singh are not only seen constantly clashing against each other but also do not lag behind in attacking. Elections are such an occasion when giving political defeat is the aim of every politician. Therefore, to accommodate BJP’s Raman Singh, Chief Minister Baghel made a special strategy and fielded Dewangan as a new face.
Devangan farmers are leaders and can give a tough fight. This is because in the last three elections, Raman Singh’s victory margin came down to around 17,000 votes in the year 2018. Here the Other Backward Classes are in a decisive position and Congress feels that it can strengthen its position by making caste census an issue.
Political analysts believe that anyone can win the election, no matter who wins, but the Rajnandgaon election will definitely be interesting. The big reason behind this is Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel who is standing behind Congress candidate Girish Dewangan. In reality, this is a contest between Raman Singh and Baghel, even though the face of Congress seems to be Devangan.
