Bear brutally kills old man, sensation spread

Korba. An elderly woman lost her life in a bear attack in Katghora forest range of Korba district. He died during treatment at the sub-health center in Pasan. The woman’s body has been sent for postmortem. The matter is of Golbahara village. According to the information, 70-year-old Mangli Bai, resident of Golbahra village, had gone to the forest to collect Mahua at 6 am on Wednesday, when the bear attacked her. Mangli Bai was seriously injured in the bear attack.

Hearing his scream, the rest of the villagers who had gone there to pick Mahua came running. The villagers chased away the bear with sticks and stones and informed dial 112 about the incident. On receiving the information, the Dial 112 team immediately reached the spot and took the injured elderly man in a bloody condition to the sub-health center of Pasan. The elderly woman died during treatment here. As soon as information about the incident was received, the Forest Department team reached the spot and recorded the statement of the family members of the deceased.
