Bengal Governor launches Citizen Grievance Redressal Forum ahead of Lok Sabha elections
Governor C.V. Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, Anand Bose on Sunday evening launched a portal – Log Sabha – a citizen grievance redressal platform, amid talk that the Raj Bhavan wants to play a key role in this election.
Raj Bhavan also launched a dedicated email for the portal – rajbhavankolkata@gmail.com – for people to send their complaints or suggestions.
“The portal was opened within 24 hours of the announcement of the schedule of Lok Sabha elections by the Election Commission of India. Complaints and suggestions received through the portal will be immediately acted upon by the Governor. This step was taken to reduce violence and corruption There are elections in Bengal,” a Raj Bhavan official said.
A senior Raj Bhavan official said the Governor made his and his office’s role clear during his visit to Howrah on Saturday to interact with the people.
“I will be in the field from the first day of the elections. My two priorities will be that there should be no violence and corruption during the elections. I will be on the streets at 6 in the morning… will not play political Holi with human blood.” Bose told the media on Saturday, “Now permission should be given in Bengal.”
Bengal’s ruling Trinamool asked whether Raj Bhavan could open such a forum, stepping under the jurisdiction of the Election Commission of India.
“The Governor should not oversee any electoral matter as it is entirely within the jurisdiction of the Election Commission of India under the relevant provisions of the Constitution. Now, whatever he (Governor) is doing is within the authority of the Election Commission. “Stepping into the field.” Trinamool Rajya Sabha member Sukhendu Shekhar Roy said.
A senior Raj Bhavan official said the governor had earlier played a similar role in the 2023 panchayat elections in Bengal, which were marred by multiple reports of violence and corruption.
