Bengaluru: Flyer furious over theft of valuables from checked luggage
Bengaluru: In another passenger complaint related to Saudi Airlines, Minhaj Ahmed, a 36-year-old software professional from HSR Layout, said valuables including watches, rings, clothes and shoes were allegedly stolen from his checked luggage in Jeddah.
“We were a 10-member family, including women and children, who were returning after Umrah pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia.
We landed at KIA on the morning of January 1 on Saudia flight SV866 and out of the 20 bags we checked, we could only get 16 bags,” the technical expert said.
The family found the four missing bags the next day, but were shocked to find that most of the items were missing.
“Unfortunately, amid the hustle and bustle of traveling with children and elderly people, the bags were not locked,” said Ahmed, who lodged a complaint with the airlines. He claimed that the value of the lost goods was Rs 25,000. The airline responded by offering the technician $100 ($8,284) in compensation.
