Bhubaneswar Dance Bar Assn urges to reconsider decision for closure of dance bars

Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Dance Bar Association has appealed the Government to reconsider the decision for closure of the dance bars in the State.

Earlier, Odisha Excise Minister Prithviraj Harichandan on Friday said the government is considering a complete ban on dance bars throughout the state.

The Association has accused that the government is not understanding the matter properly.

The Bar owners have said that they are complying with the terms and conditions prescribed. However, if despite the government would take steps towards closure of dance bars, it will be a blow to their livelihood.

Earlier in 2019, many dance bars in Bhubaneswar were closed. Later, the Bar Owners’ Association moved the High Court. Accordingly, the High Court set aside the decision of complete closure of bars and recommended certain conditions on the opening of the dance bars.
