Due to sudden change in weather, symptoms of pest infestation are visible in pulses and oilseeds crops. In gram and lentil plants, the plant is not able to develop due to the caterpillar coat gnawing the stem and leaves. In view of this, Deputy Director Agriculture Monesh Sahu has given contemporary advice to the farmers of the district.
He told that farmers should continuously monitor the crops and install T-shaped pegs on the ridges of the field for the birds to sit. For controlling caterpillars by biological method, mix one litre of Agniya Astra in 10 litres of water and spray it in the morning and evening.
