Big potholes are being formed on the roads, the department is unaware
Kaithal. The fog season has started, but the officials of the PWD department have still not woken up. Due to the negligence of the department, accidents are happening every day on the dilapidated roads of the district. So far many people have lost their lives in these accidents and many have been seriously injured.
Despite this, departmental officers are not taking interest from the roads. The situation is that the road built with drains from Ambala Road to Khurana Road is waiting for both these major accidents. Because there are such deep potholes on both sides of this road that even an entire vehicle can sink into them. Therefore, it seems that the responsible officials have left people’s lives at the mercy of Ram. Let us tell you that many years ago Randeep Singh Surjewala had constructed this road from Dhand Road to Drain as well as Khurana Road.
After that, just a few months ago, Kaithal MLA Leela Ram got construction done from Khurana Road till Khanauri Road. So that the pedestrians coming from Kurukshetra side do not have to enter the city to go towards Khanauri and Patiala. Therefore this bypass was taken out from outside the city. But now the pedestrians are not benefiting from this road.
Because this two kilometer road from Ambala Road to Khurana Road is now in very bad condition. Which has a 50 feet deep drain on one side. In which the berm of the road has sunk in at many places for about 2 kilometers. There is a similar situation on the other side also. Therefore, going on this road is not free from any danger.
Due to negligence in the work of responsible officials, road accidents are not decreasing. At the same time, no matter how much budget is spent by the administration on road safety, no improvement is seen on the ground.
Therefore, all the claims of the administration remain limited to road safety meetings only. Due to which 247 road accidents have occurred in the district from January to October this year. Out of which 144 people died. Also 222 people have been injured. XEN Ramkumar of the Public Works Department said that a tender worth about Rs 1.5 crore has been given to a private contractor for the repair of the road with drain from Dhand Road to Khurana Road.
Out of which the concerned contractor has currently done the road repair work of up to 3 kilometers. Which he himself has also inspected. The remaining 2 km road from Ambala Road to Khurana Road will also be repaired soon and the pedestrians will not be allowed to face any problem.
