Bihar: Farmers prepared 20 ponds at their own expense, started fish farming
A surprising news has come out from West Champaran of Bihar, where farmers have started getting disappointed due to high cost and low profits in traditional farming, so now they have started moving towards alternative farming. In this series, two dozen farmers of Sirisia Panchayat under Chanpatia block have left traditional farming and started fish farming. These farmers owned land in an area that was always filled with water. After the water dried up, farmers used to cultivate wheat in some areas and had to be satisfied with the profit from it. Also, there was never a paddy crop there, so the farmers planned fish farming and started it from this year itself. This chaur is spread over 500 acres. Farmers have started fish farming in 100 acres.

Let us tell you that farmers have constructed 20 small and big ponds with their own money. It costs one to two lakh rupees to prepare a pond. Seeds of Rohu, Katla, Naini and Common Carp have been sown. These fish will be ready in November. Let us tell you that after success, there is a plan to expand fish farming in the entire area. Farmers Harihar Yadav, Satyendra Mahato and Hiralal Yadav told that the technical information about fish farming has been taken from the fish farmers of the village itself.
Along with this, let us tell you that seeds have been procured from Kaptanganj in Uttar Pradesh and fishes will start emerging from the month of November. Whereas fish farming in one acre costs Rs 40 thousand.
