Bipasha’s pain spilled, said there were two holes in my daughter’s heart, had to undergo open heart surgery
Mumbai (IANS). In an interview with Neha Dhupia, Bipasha Basu opened up about her daughter’s Ventricular Septic Disease (VSD) and revealed that her daughter had to undergo an open heart surgery when she was only three months old.
Bipasha Basu and her husband Karan Singh Grover welcomed their first child on November 12, 2022, who the couple named Devi Basu Singh Grover. Though at that time he was unaware that Devi was born with VSD.
The ‘Dhoom 2’ actress said that our journey has been very different from that of a normal parent. It’s more difficult than the smile I have on my face right now. I do not want this to happen to any mother. I came to know on the third day after the birth of my child that he had two holes in his heart.
The actress further said, “I had decided not to share this, but I am telling it now because I feel there are many mothers who have helped me in this journey…”
Talking about VSD, he said, “We could not even understand what VSD is. It is a ventricular septal… We went through a bad phase. We didn’t tell our family anything about it. We were both shocked. We wanted to celebrate, but we were very sad.”
“The initial five months were very difficult for us, but Devi was wonderful from day one. We were told that we would have to have scans every month to know whether it was healing on its own or not. But the kind of big hole , we were told it is dangerous, you have to undergo surgery. And it is best to do surgery when the baby is three months old.”
Bipashu cried, “How can you do an open heart surgery on a baby girl? You feel very sad and burdened to think of this. Me and Karan waited for the baby to recover naturally. But in the first and second month we It didn’t give any result. After which we made up our mind that we will get our daughter’s surgery done. The surgery proved successful and now Devi is fine.”
However, later Bipasha smiled again and said that her daughter is very brave and she kept laughing even in such a situation.
