BJP government is glorifying rape criminals, turning Kashi into a shopping mall

Congress unit chief in Uttar Pradesh Ajay Rai accused the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh of “glorifying” the violators and turning Kashi into a commercial hub.

Speaking to reporters at the Mahadeva Mela here on Sunday, he said that when his party voted for him to contest the elections and become an MLA, the BJP MLA from Duddhi was facing a case for violation of the POCSO Act.

The UP Congress chief said, “This reflects the BJP’s thinking towards women. The violators are being glorified in the BJP government. The victim got justice in the court.”

Ramdular Gond, BJP MLA from Sonbhadra electoral district Duddhi, was sentenced to 25 years of rigorous imprisonment by a tribunal on Friday for raping a girl nine years ago. The tribunal also imposed a fine of Rs 10 lakh, which will help in the rehabilitation of the victim.

Rai along with Congress officials participated in the closing ceremony of Mahadeva Mela and performed Jalabhishek at the temple of Lodheshwar Mahadev.

He said, “Inflation is at its peak under this government. They are being unfair to mothers and sisters and not doing justice to them. “Pilgrimage places are being tampered with and they are building commercial centers there.”

The Congress leader said, “Religious places are the center of our religion. These should not be commercialized. The BJP government has transformed Kashi into a commercial centre. The mythological nature of religious places should be preserved, not destroyed.” Rai said, “We are not among those who do politics by imposing sandals on the front.”

In response to a question, the state Congress president said that he has no rivalry with Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav and will talk to the party high command regarding jointly participating in the Lok Sabha elections. Take a decision in this regard.
