BJP leader arrested, accused of molesting student
Satna: In Satna, Madhya Pradesh, a case of a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader allegedly sexually assaulting, assaulting and insulting the dignity of a teenage girl has come to light. The police arrested the accused leader in this case on Saturday. Along with this, the accused has also been expelled from the party.
Giving information about this on Saturday, a police officer said that a complaint was lodged with the police on behalf of a teenage girl accusing a BJP leader of Satna of obscene acts and assault. Acting on the basis of the complaint, the police have arrested the accused.
The official said that the accused has been identified as Kalyan Singh, who is the BJP Mandal President of Sohawal. Sohawal is part of Raigaon assembly constituency of the district.
Civil Lines police station in-charge Yogendra Singh Parihar said, “According to the complaint, the accused gave a lift to the 17-year-old victim girl in his SUV car by promising her father that he would drop her to the college, but inside the car, Kalyan allegedly raped her. “Started doing obscene acts with the girl.”
He said that the student protested against him and raised an alarm and after the car stopped, she somehow escaped from his clutches and ran away from there. He told that after reaching the college, the girl called her family members and narrated her ordeal after which they contacted the police.
The police station in-charge said that a case has been registered by the police against the accused Kalyan Singh under section 354 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act.
Meanwhile, BJP’s Satna district president Satish Sharma said that the party’s Sohawal Mandal President Kalyan has been expelled from the party after the incident came to light.
