BJP made another allegation of humiliation of women in Bengal, Trinamool Congress denied

Kolkata (IANS). BJP’s IT cell head and party’s co-incharge for West Bengal Amit Malviya on Saturday alleged that the modesty of two tribal women was attacked in Malda.

In support of his claims, Amit Malviya also uploaded a blurred video of the incident on his Twitter handle on Saturday morning. The video shows two women being physically assaulted on an open road.

The BJP leader claimed that the incident took place on July 19. He alleged that terror is continuing in West Bengal. Two tribal women were stripped, tortured and mercilessly thrashed in Pakua Haat area of Malda’s Bamangola police station. Whereas, the police remained mute spectators.

Amit Malviya said the women were from a socially marginalized community and there was a frenzied mob for their blood. It was a tragedy that should have broken Mamata Banerjee’s heart and she could have taken action instead of just fuming as she is also the Home Minister of Bengal.

He also accused the Chief Minister of not doing anything in this matter. He said that he neither condemned the vandalism nor expressed pain, as that would have exposed his own failure as a chief minister.

State Commerce and Industry Minister Dr. Shashi Panja claimed that the BJP was unnecessarily politicizing the Malda case. The Malda incident was a case of theft, where two women tried to steal something from a local market. In that process a group of women tried to take law and order into their hands. A case has been registered and the police is probing the matter.

Earlier on Friday afternoon, BJP state president Sukant Majumdar and the party’s Lok Sabha members told reporters in New Delhi that a woman was paraded naked in Panchla, Howrah district, to contest as a BJP candidate in the rural civic body elections on July 8, the day of panchayat polling.

In a hurriedly called press conference hours after the BJP leader made the allegation, Amit Malviya said that after investigation on a complaint filed in this regard, it is clear that no such incident took place in Panchla on the polling day.

Hours after the DGP’s press conference, Leader of the Opposition in the state assembly Suvendu Adhikari posted a tweet attaching two videos together, dismissing the DGP’s statement as “distortion of facts”.

The first video is about Amit Malviya claiming to reporters that no such incident took place on polling day and the second video is about a woman with a blurred face making the same allegations made by state BJP leaders.

In the video, the woman claimed that she was unable to file a police complaint due to threats from ruling party workers.
