BJP MP calls it suicide after domestic help’s son’s body found in his house
Guwahati (IANS). After the body of a 10-year-old son of a domestic help was found in the house of BJP MP Rajdeep Roy in Assam, the MP has said that the child committed suicide after the mother refused to give him a mobile phone.
Rajdeep Roy (10), a class five student, was living with his mother and elder sister at the house of BJP MP Rajdeep Roy in Assam’s Silchar town for a year. Locals say it was a suicide, but the police have termed it as a case of unusual death.
On Saturday night, the student was found hanging inside the house. The police later sent the body to Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH) for autopsy.
The boy’s mother works as a domestic help at the residence of MP Rajdeep Roy. His family is from Palong Ghat area of Cachar district.
According to the police, the mother had brought her two children to Silchar a year ago to get them better education.
Speaking to IANS on Sunday, Roy said that the boy lived with his mother and sister on the first floor of the house. On Saturday, the boy asked his mother for a mobile phone to play video games, but she refused. Thereafter the mother and her daughter had gone out of the house for some work and the student (deceased) was at home.
The Silchar MP said that when the mother and daughter returned home after 40 minutes, they found the child’s body hanging in the room. They called the neighbors and later the police were informed.
Though the MP suspects that it is a case of suicide, he is recommending a thorough probe into the matter.
According to some sources, the boy was addicted to playing video games on mobile. Meanwhile, one of the relatives of the deceased boy said that they suspect it to be a suicide.
