BJP MP painted saffron at such a place, uproar started
Mumbai. BJP Rajya Sabha MP Medha Kulkarni, along with party workers, painted a green wall in saffron in Pune. This started a war of words. Medha Kulkarni, while justifying her move, claimed that walls in the city should not be deliberately painted green. At the same time, Uddhav faction leader Sushma Andhare strongly opposed Medha Kulkarni. The wall which the BJP MP painted is located near Tilak Road. This wall was yellow before being painted green. Allegedly flowers and incense sticks were kept at this place, after which Kulkarni raised questions. She said that there were never flowers and prasad here before, how did they come suddenly?
Medha Kulkarni said that we removed the green color and used saffron color as a symbol of Hindu pride. This is a part of awakening Hindus. We are proud of this move and will not tolerate attempts to make such places ‘mazars’ or start namaz. He warned against similar activities in other parts of the city and appealed to protect ‘our land and property’.
This incident gave rise to controversy when Uddhav faction leader Sushma Andhare opposed this move of Medha Kulkarni. Andhare questioned whether BJP workers in Pune or Medha Kulkarni showed the same concern for issues like women’s safety as she did while painting on the wall? She said that if public representatives do such childish acts, then they should leave politics and focus on religious work.
