Tamil Nadu: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) released its manifesto for the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections in Chennai on Tuesday. Released ahead of the April 23 elections, the manifesto includes several social and economic promises aimed at strengthening the state’s cultural identity while also promoting its development.
Key announcements in the manifesto include a promise to provide three free LPG cylinders to residents during major festivals such as Pongal, Tamil New Year, and Diwali. The party says this initiative will provide relief to ordinary families and ease their financial burden during the festive season.
In addition, the manifesto announces a special financial assistance scheme for female heads of households. This scheme promises financial assistance of ₹2,000 per month, along with a one-time additional assistance of ₹10,000 to support families’ financial well-being.
The BJP has also emphasized cultural aspects in its manifesto. The party has proposed declaring Thaipusam as the state’s official festival. This festival holds special significance in Tamil culture, and granting it official recognition is said to promote cultural traditions.
The manifesto also states that equal attention will be given to infrastructure, employment, and social welfare schemes for the state’s development. The party states that pursuing economic progress and cultural pride is its priority.
From a political perspective, these announcements have been prepared keeping in mind various segments of the electorate. Particular emphasis has been placed on schemes that directly benefit women and the middle class.
The election atmosphere in the state has intensified following the release of the manifesto. Other political parties are also unveiling their own promises and plans, making the electoral contest increasingly interesting.
Experts believe that such promises may influence voters, but the final decision will depend on public voting. Currently, all parties are engaged in their own campaigning.
Security and administrative preparations are underway for the elections in Tamil Nadu on April 23. Efforts are being made to ensure a peaceful and fair conduct of the entire process under the supervision of the Election Commission.
