BJP said this while criticizing Congress’s ‘EVM hack’ claim

New Delhi: Responding to senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh’s claim that EVMs (electronic voting machines) can be hacked, Union Minister Giriraj Singh said the incident is “not new” and will happen whenever the opposition is in the electoral battle. If he loses, they raise questions. EVM.

Speaking to ANI in Delhi on Tuesday, Giriraj Singh said, “This is nothing new. The opposition raises questions on EVMs only when they lose the elections.”

The Union Minister questioned why the opposition does not raise similar questions on victory in the assembly elections like Himachal Pradesh or Telangana.

The senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader said, “Why did he not raise questions on EVMs during Himachal Pradesh elections or Telangana elections? When they win everything is fine, when they lose they question EVMs.”

Singh claimed that instead of looking into why people did not vote for him, the opposition raises questions on EVMs.
“When they lose, instead of looking at why people did not vote for them, they question EVMs,” he said. This is not a new thing. When they win, EVMs work and when they lose they question its functioning.”
Earlier in the day, former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijay Singh had alleged that any machine with a chip can be hacked and he has opposed voting with EVMs since 2003.

“Any machine with a chip can be hacked. I have opposed voting by EVM since 2003. Can we allow our Indian democracy to be controlled by professional hackers! This is the fundamental question that all political parties have to address. Honorable ECI and Honorable Supreme Court, will you please protect our Indian democracy?” Singh said in a post on ‘X’ on Monday.

The same theory was also supported by party spokesperson and permanent invitee member of the Congress Working Committee, Gurdeep Sappal, who claimed that the Congress’ vote share in the postal ballot was much higher.

“Congress’s vote share in postal ballot was 21% more than BJP’s, but in EVM it got 9% less votes than BJP? Why do we see two different voting patterns in paper vote and EVM vote?” He said.

However, the BJP hit out at the Congress leadership, claiming that the Congress had only raised the issue of EVMs when it lost the elections and the same EVMs had given victory to the Congress in Telangana.

BJP leader and Union minister Arjun Ram Meghwal said, “The opposition should stop spreading this negativity. By saying this (that there is a problem with EVMs) they are insulting the voters also…”
BJP MP Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti said, “When they were in power from 2004-2014, they did not question EVMs. When he won in Himachal Pradesh and Karnataka he did not question it.”

He also won Telangana. The opposition neither trusts EVMs nor the public. BJP made a record in Madhya Pradesh in the elections and came back to power after ruling the state for 18 out of the last 20 years. Digvijay Singh was an integral part of the Kamal Nath-led party campaign in Madhya Pradesh.
