BJP will contest Lok Sabha elections on its own: State BJP chief Sunil Jakhar
Chandigarh: Party state unit chief Sunil Jakhar on Tuesday said the BJP will contest the Lok Sabha elections in Punjab on its own.
The announcement came amid talk of talks between the Shiromani Akali Dal and the BJP to rekindle their alliance for the parliamentary elections.
Voting for the 13 Lok Sabha seats of Punjab will be held on June 1, the last phase of the seven-phase elections.
Jakhar said on Twitter, “BJP is going to contest Lok Sabha elections alone in Punjab.” He said that BJP has taken this decision after feedback received from people and party workers.
Jakhar said, “The work done by BJP under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is not hidden from anyone.”
The BJP leader also said that in the last 10 years, farmers’ produce was purchased at the minimum support price.
