Body of convict missing from government hospital
Kolkata: In a shocking incident in West Bengal, the body of a man convicted by the court has gone missing from the mortuary of the state-run SSKM Medical College and Hospital.
Family members of the victim, identified as Bablu Poli, have claimed that he was first beaten to death in custody and his body parts were sold.
But Kolkata Police has claimed that someone mistakenly claimed the body and performed the last rites.
Hospital officials have not yet commented on the matter.
Polly was serving a prison sentence for the murder of his landlord.
Her family members claimed that on October 21, they were informed by the police that Polly died in custody and her body was shifted to the mortuary of SSKM hospital.
However, when they went to the hospital, they did not find the body and the hospital authorities also did not provide any information.
Police informed the family on Thursday that Polly’s body had been handed over to someone by mistake.
