Body of missing J&K engineer recovered from Jhelum in Baramulla district
Srinagar (IANS). The body of PWD engineer Gurmeet Singh, who went missing last week, was found in the Jhelum river in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Tuesday.
The body of missing Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) Gurmeet Singh has been recovered from a barrage at the Lower Jhelum Hydel Project (LJHP) at Gantmulla in Baramulla district, four days after he went missing, police said.
After receiving information about the missing of AEE Gurmeet Singh, the Baramulla Police constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) under Deputy Superintendent of Police to probe the matter.
The police had also launched a massive operation involving SDRF, canine squad, drone surveillance to uncover any possible leads. Also sought public assistance.
Police said, “After an intensive operation, the body of Gurmeet Singh was found lying in a barrage at Lower Jhelum Hydel Project (LJHP) in Gantmulla.
“The body was lifted from the spot and taken to a nearby hospital for medico-legal formalities.
“Further information will be shared once the cause of death and the circumstances of his death are ascertained.”
