‘Bombay Meri Jaan’ director says KK Menon is perfect for the role of Ismail Qadri
Mumbai (IANS). Director and co-producer Shujaat Saudagar of the upcoming period crime-drama streaming series ‘Bombay Meri Jaan’ has said that actor KK Menon was an ideal choice for the role of policeman Ismail Qadri in the series.
‘Bombay Meri Jaan’ also stars Avinash Tiwari, Kritika Kamra, Nivedita Bhattacharya and Amyra Dastur.
The series chronicles the life and rise of Dara Qadri, the story told through the lens of a father, Ismail Qadri, who is an honest policeman. He is torn between his duties and responsibilities.
Talking about Menon’s casting, Shujaat said, “I sent her a script. I’ve been trying to work with him for almost 20 years and it never worked out. If there was anyone who could do justice to the role of Ismail Qadri, it was this brilliant actor.”
He said, “I needed someone who had a distinct personality, whose aura spoke volumes. I had this notion in my mind that people would just look at the character and understand the backstory of his life in one go. I’m so happy with how easy KK made this look look.”
Excel Media and Entertainment’s series is produced by Ritesh Sidhwani, Kasim Jagmagiya and Farhan Akhtar. ‘Bombay Meri Jaan’ will premiere on September 14 on Prime Video.
