Brijbhushan Sharan Singh gets bail in sexual harassment case of women wrestlers
Former Wrestling Federation of India chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh has been granted regular bail by a Delhi court in a case of alleged sexual harassment filed against him by women wrestlers. Singh’s bail request was not opposed by the national capital’s police, which comes under the Ministry of Home Affairs. After this, Delhi’s Rouse Avenue court reserved its decision till 4 pm today. He was later granted bail. Opposing Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh’s plea for regular bail, the counsel appearing for the wrestlers told the court that he is an influential person and may try to influence witnesses in the case . The lawyer said that Singh should be told that he cannot contact the complainants or the witnesses.
To this, Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) lawyer Rajeev Mohan replied that there would be no danger from Singh. Women wrestlers had earlier questioned the intention of the inspection panel set up by the government. This panel is probing allegations of sexual harassment. Women wrestlers had alleged that the panel was biased towards BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh.
