British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, who came to India to participate in the G-20 summit, along with his wife Akshata Murthy on Sunday visited Akshardham Temple in Delhi and offered prayers. The Sunak couple remained in the temple for about 45 minutes. During this, he went barefoot to the temple and had darshan of Lord Swami Narayan and participated in the aarti. Delhi Police had made tight security arrangements in the temple premises and surrounding areas in view of Rishi Sunak’s visit to Akshardham temple.
Rishi Sunak has come to India with his wife Akshata Murthy to attend the G-20 summit. Police officials said that security has been tightened in and around the temple. A senior police officer said that barricades have already been installed in the area and investigation is being done in view of the G-20 summit. He said that adequate number of security personnel have been deployed for the visit of the British Prime Minister.
A temple official said that Akshardham temple is fully prepared to welcome British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and his wife Akshata Narayan Murthy on Sunday. Akshardham official Jyotindra Dave said, “We are ready for the visit of UK PM Rishi Sunak. We will welcome him and his wife at the main gate called Mayur Dwar and take them to the main Akshardham temple. If they want to perform the aarti If they are there, we will arrange it. Our temple has the deities of Radha-Krishna, Sita Ram, Lakshmi Narayan, Parvati Parmeshwar and Ganapati. If they want to worship, we will arrange it.”
Rishi Sunak proud to be a Hindu
Expressing pride in his Hindu roots, Rishi Sunak had said on Friday that he would visit a temple in Delhi during his stay for the G-20 summit. Sunak said that I am a proud Hindu. This is the way I was brought up, this is the way I am. Hopefully I can visit the temple while staying here for the next few days.
