Building construction restrictions more strict in Shimla
Shimla. The restrictions on building construction in the capital Shimla have now become more stringent. In the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu on Saturday, the decision was taken to make further amendments in the Shimla Development Plan. Shimla Development Plan was made during the previous BJP government, but it was put on hold due to the ongoing case in NGT.
Now there is no ban, but according to the Shimla Development Plan, approval to allow construction of the building has not yet been received from the court. A total of 17 green belts are already notified in the city in the Shimla Development Plan.
New buildings cannot be constructed in these green belts and for this the National Green Tribunal has also imposed many restrictions. The green belt of Shimla is called the lungs of the city.
The present government had also made a change in the rules regarding green belt in the cabinet meeting held last month.
There was a provision in this that even if there is even a single tree in the green belt plot, permission for building construction will not be given, but in the cabinet meeting held on Saturday, the government has taken an even bigger decision. Industries Minister Harsh Vardhan Singh Chauhan, who came to give the cabinet briefing, said that the state government has amended the Shimla Development Plan and along with 17 green belts, eight more green belts have been added to it.
Now there are a total of 25 green belts within Shimla city limits. Its draft is going to be released soon by the Town and Country Planning Department. Objections and suggestions will also be taken from the people on this. Industries Minister Harsh Vardhan Singh Chauhan said that the goal of the cabinet is to save the environment of Shimla. This time during the rainy season, it is necessary to take such steps considering the danger that has been seen in Shimla city.
