Cab driver arrested for sexually assaulting pregnant woman
Bengaluru (IANS). A cab driver has been arrested for sexually assaulting and assaulting a pregnant woman in public in Bengaluru. The police gave this information on Saturday.
According to the police, the shocking incident took place on July 29 in the limits of Electronics City police station.
The accused has been identified as 26-year-old Avinash, a resident of Kammasandra on the outskirts of Bengaluru, who worked in a private transport agency.
He has been sent to judicial custody.
Police said that at around 7.30 pm on the day of the incident, the 32-year-old woman, who is a nurse, was walking towards the bus stop from the health center where she works.
The accused came in an SUV and approached the woman and offered to drop her home.
The victim refused and started walking ahead ignoring him.
The accused got down from the car and kept following the woman. He told her that he would pay Rs 1 lakh for every hour he spent with her.
Police said he even started touching her, following which she screamed and slapped him.
Thereafter, the accused repeatedly punched her on the face and ears.
When he started bleeding, the accused fled from the spot.
She called a colleague and went to the Electronics City police station.
After recording the statement, the police checked the CCTV footage and nabbed the accused.
