Cab driver arrested in Bhubaneswar for looting flight passenger

Bhubaneswar: A cab driver has been arrested on Thursday in Bhubaneswar of Odisha for looting valuables from a flight passenger. He asked the passenger to get down from the cab so that he can refill fuel and then fled from the scene with the bag with valuables of the passengers.
The accused cab driver has been identified as Nageswar Parmanik, originally from Kuan Pali in Mahanga area. It has been learnt that he is a professional criminal.
As per the information received, yesterday, Aman Agarwal returned to Bhubaneswar via Goa from Bangkok. He booked a cab online and caught the cab from Bhubaneswar Airport.
On the way, the accused heard Aman talking on his phone and plotted the robbery. The vehicle was stopped on the way to Chandrasekhar.
He asked the passenger to get off the vehicle so that he can refill CNG near the Chandrasekharpur petrol pump. And then, he drove away with the vehicle at high speed while the bag of the passenger was in the cab.
The bag contained a diamond ring, foreign currency, passport and Indian money. The commissionerate police arrested the cab driver within eight hours after the complainant was lodged at the Chandrasekharpur police station. The accused was produced in the Court.
After the arrest, the cab was seized along with the diamonds and foreign currency that he had looted, along with the passport and other valuables.
