Tel Aviv: The Combat Antisemitism Movement (CAM) has expressed displeasure over the comments of UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres. Guterres blamed Israel for the October 7 Hamas massacre, which left 1,400 Israelis brutally murdered and more than 200 taken hostage.
The non-profit organization has demanded the resignation of the UN chief over his remarks. The Combat Antisemitism Movement said in a statement that it was shocking to know how out of touch Guterres is with reality. Sascha Roitman Dretva, CEO of CAM, said: “Over the past few weeks, our generation has had the opportunity to reflect and better understand how the silence and complicity of global decision makers and opinion makers allowed genocide to occur. This massacre was Nazi-like.”
“The fact that the leaders of an international organization are engaged in victim blaming shows that they clearly have different rules for Jews among all other people in the world. “He wants to see the blood of Jews shed and can only think about the political consequences. Can they say that the Holocaust did not happen in a vacuum?
“These comments are as if the Jewish people themselves are to blame for incidents like genocide, rape etc.” He said CAM demands the immediate resignation of Guterres as UN Secretary-General.
