Canal embankment broken, villagers hold water resources department responsible

Korba. Lakhs of liters of water flowed due to breach of the embankment of the right canal in Korba. This canal was constructed by the Water Resources Department. Due to poor construction, the embankment of the right bank canal has broken, for which the department is now busy in whitewashing.

It is being told that the upper part of the embankment is safe, but a big hole has developed below. Water is flowing at a faster rate. When some villagers saw water flowing, they informed the irrigation department. According to local people, the incident happened late at night.

The flow of water in the canal was very fast. By the time people noticed it in the morning, lakhs of liters of water had flowed from the canal into the river. Passing through the farmers’ fields and the banks of the gardens, it joined the Hasdev river. Farmers said that this is not the first incident, even before this a large part of the middle embankment in Sitamarhi area had broken. After this the water entered the nearby houses. There was an outcry after this incident. After this the repair work went on for a long time.
