Case of abetment to suicide, Chhattisgarh High Court gave important decision

Bilaspur: While ending the case of abetment to suicide registered in the lower court against a girl and two youths, the High Court has said that if someone takes such a step due to mental weakness, then no one else can be blamed for it, even if Why might he have written his name in the suicide note?

According to the information, on January 28, 2023, a youth named Abhishek Naredi had committed suicide in Rajnandgaon. During the investigation, the police found a suicide note in which the deceased had written that he was committing suicide due to threats by a girl and two young men. The police completed the investigation and filed a charge sheet in the Additional Sessions Court and the court framed charges against the three under section 306 of the IPC. All three challenged this charge sheet in the High Court.

It was brought to the notice of the court that the deceased youth had a love affair with the girl for five years. Later the girl broke the relationship and had a relationship with another young man. The young man wanted to marry the girl but the girl refused. It was written in his suicide note that the girl and two other youths threatened him. The court accepted that after receiving the threat the deceased had to seek help from the police, which he did not take. If someone commits suicide due to his mental weakness, he is not accused of instigating it. The bench of Justice Partha Pratim Sahu rejected the FIR lodged against the girl and the two youths.
